Work space inspiration

The past year I have spent blogging and building my handmade business. Of course, my work space consists of binders, laptops and misc boxes randomly placed throughout my apartment. AKA I need a creative work space! For christmas, my mother-in-law gave me a beautiful wooden desk, AND SHE PAINTED IT BRIGHT TURQUOISE FOR ME. I love her. This means that now all I need is some shelves and a desk!

I've been searching the sacred Pinterest for work space ideas, I think I have enough ideas to make about 50 areas.

Here are my favourite!
(I want every single print that's on the wall in the first one!)

I just love black and white ! LOVE it.

A thought for today

The past month I've been spending a lot of time figuring out how much money I need to survive and what I really need in my life. So after a series of unfortunate events at my work, I decided to quit. BAM. I did it. I quit my job. Well, one of them. Despite losing a third of my income, I feel that I'm much better off this way. (Plus I'm still a student, so being broke is just the norm).

The point of this is I realized I don't actually need all the money I make, and I cherish my time more then I cherish having tons of extra money to spend on meaningless things.  I really liked the quote and it was connected to me quitting my job so I thought I would ramble on  share it with you.

I hope the quote struck a cord with you as it did with me!

Things I love and a hello!

Hello everyone! I know I've been in hibernation mode for the past couple months. I've been busy with getting ready for finals and then Christmas happened. Which means I've spent that last two weeks eating enough food to feed a small village.

I have some exciting stuff coming soon! Traveler's Tree will be getting our own website! Woot! As well, the etsy shop will be getting new items soon! I've been working on some really neat stuff.

For now, here are some things I might have to buy with my christmas money. What's that Grandma? You mean you wanted me to spend that money on textbooks? Damn.

This aquamarine ring is so amazing! I love the double band with the stone between, so lovely.

I need this clock, I love anything with a moon on it, and this clock is perfect!

This talented lady makes paper art, this beetle is insane! I love it. You can find her artwork here.

This article tells the story of how two female penguins are in love! Such a nice story. <3 a="" animal="" doesn="" font="" love="" nice="" story.="" t="" who="">

Artist Spolit: Emmanuelle Brisson.

I love Emmanuelle Brissons work. I mean, I love, love, love Brissons work. I enjoy the variety, the fuzziness, the simplicity and quietness of his work. It's just beautiful!

He also does series, my favourite one is where he has two pictures side by side. A portrait on the left and a landscape on the right.

Every single photo he has in his portfolio is just lovely and simple, some can be bizarre - in a good way! - but they all just have a quiet feel to them, it's like spending a rainy day with no technology and reading and drinking tea. That's how they make me feel!

If you havn't already, check Emmanuelle Brissons website out! Of course, the website is in a different language, so make sure to turn on your Google translate!

Cheers!

Weekly Roundup: Tutorials and DIY's

This weeks DIY roundup are some of my favourites! I'm almost tempted to stop dying my hair black so I can give myself temporary lavender hair. Wouldn't it look lovely on a bride in a woodland theme wedding? This one's going on my Pinterest wedding board,

This beautiful lady has temporary dyed hair! TEMPORARY PURPLE HAIR! Now, if you don't know, I had bright blue hair for three whole years. If i didn't have black hair I would be in the bathroom right now giving myself lavender hair.

I have been looking at polaroid coasters for so long! They are so lovely and unique. One of my all time favourite DIY's I have to say.

Homemade gift bags made out of newspapers is an environmentally friendly - and wallet friendly - alternative to buying dozens of bags year after year.

These paint chip bookmarks are super cute! Although I have to admit, I'm a page bender when it comes to reading, but if I had these I'd probably find books to read just so I could use them!

Which one is your favourite?

Cheers!

Natural Living: Is it worth it?

The past couple weeks I've been spending a lot of time thinking about making a big move. A huge move. A life-changing move that might be a pain in the butt. Going from pizza eating - cheese loving - chemical wearing - hair bleaching gal to a vegan, all natural and organic gal. Will it be worth it? Yes. Can I do it? I hope so.

Things I plan on changing to:
-mostly vegan and organic diet
-no more hair dying.
-natural AND homemade by me shampoo/soap/cleaning supplies/makeup. (Except nail polish, until I can find a natural version I will continue to wear chemical/store bought nail polish)
-less energy consumption around the loft.

I don't know if I left anything out, but I'm sure you get the idea.

Reasons why I am doing this:
-it's better for the environment
-it's  better for my body
-it's better for my healthy
-it's better for my wallet.
-it's better for animals.

I don't know about you, but those seem like good reasons. The past two months I have been a wreck - headaches that last all days, sluggishness around 2, wanting to fall asleep at like 8 pm and just a general ugh feeling. And, the reason was obvious. I ate. A lot. All the time. One would think I was  pregnant at the stuff and amount I was eating. This lifestyle change will fix all those up in a giffy!

Thanks to Wellness Mama for much need inspiration to finally put me from liking the idea of natural living to actually making homemade shampoo and cleaning supplies.

Cheers!
