Artist Spolit: Emmanuelle Brisson.

I love Emmanuelle Brissons work. I mean, I love, love, love Brissons work. I enjoy the variety, the fuzziness, the simplicity and quietness of his work. It's just beautiful!

He also does series, my favourite one is where he has two pictures side by side. A portrait on the left and a landscape on the right.

Every single photo he has in his portfolio is just lovely and simple, some can be bizarre - in a good way! - but they all just have a quiet feel to them, it's like spending a rainy day with no technology and reading and drinking tea. That's how they make me feel!

If you havn't already, check Emmanuelle Brissons website out! Of course, the website is in a different language, so make sure to turn on your Google translate!

Cheers!
Rowan

How to make a beautiful terrarium

How to make your own terrarium:
                 #Terrarium
I love plants. I have about eight plants in an apartment that should fit four. I just can't help it! Tropicals, succulents, ivy...I've got it all. Terrariums are an excellent way to have your own little personal garden!
Here is my DIY on how to make your own terrarium.

Materials to Purchase
1. The container - i'd recommend either a glass vase or a glass jar.
2. 3,5,or 7 plants (this odd numbered arrangement tends to be more interesting than even numbered arrangements), I personally love succulent gardens with shrubbery and greens, but you can use anything you find beautiful! greens, flowers, herbs, weeds.....
3. potting soil
4. some stones for around the plants or below the soil (You can pick small stones the size of marbles from your backyard and save a bit of money here)

             Another World Succulent Garden Terrarium

Making the Terrarium
1. Put a one inch layer of stones in the bottom of your terrarium.
2. Fill the container about half full of potting soil
3. Remove the plants from their plastic pots and arrange them in your terrarium. Move this arrangement around looking for something that pleases you.
4. Once you have found an arrangement you like fill in the gaps with soil and tap out any extra.
5. Water with a moderate amount of water.
6. Put the terrarium in a place with moderate to direct sunlight.

Caring for your terrarium
A terrarium is really easy to care for. Check on it every day and stick your finger in the soil. If it is dry then water it. Examine the bottom of the terrarium. If there is water among the stones then you should not water it for a few days.  - make sure if you are using succulents that you let it dry out completely before watering it! Keeping those types of plants constantly wet or damp will kill it,

Terrariums make for the best gifts ! Teachers, family, friends... anyone. Who wouldn't love to get their own personal garden? It definatly beats any regular plant.

Tada! There you have it, your very own terrarium.

Air Plant Holders: Vases for your wall

I've been really digging air plant holders lately, which are basically just vases that go on your wall! I'm moving into a new loft apartment in a few weeks so I've been on the hunt for the perfect wall vase.
These ones so far all make the cut!

Things I like: flower farms

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate flower farms. And just think, all these colours are natural! It's very rare to walk through nature and find such an abundance of such colours! Atleast in Canada, hello green!
Anyone who says these photos aren't breathtaking, are just wrong!

Traveler's Tree

Pendant from Traveler's Tree
Traveler's Tree business card design
My lovely business card design
Traveler's Tree is my business! I recently just began selling on Etsy, but before I had spent a few years selling at craft shows with my mother. Everything is handmade by me! I run the shop, design the pieces, ship the items, do the marketing and shop 'upkeep.'
I love everything about owning a business and doing everything involved with it by myself. Once it grows to the point where I'll need to hire help, i don't know what I'll do!

Currently I'm working on brick and mortar shops collaborations, so stay turned!

Spring weather is almost here!

Pinned Image

I know technically spring started quit a while ago, but it seems here that spring weather doesn't happen until  May. I don't know about you, but I hate winter. It seems from September 1st until May we just have crappy weather. Snow on the ground for much of that time and I am not a snow person. I know, I am a bad Canadian. Hating snow. But seriously, I live for the summer. Sadly we get about three months of solid summer weather, other then that I think everyone should just go into hibernation.
But alas! Spring time is almost here, time to slowly stop wearing heavy coasts and hats, and time for actually going outside! Here are some spring inspirations off pinterest  Pinned Image
Pastel colours and raspberries!

I just love fresh berries, I live right by the farmers market so that means fresh berries every week!

Flowers! Flowers are one of my top five favourite things in life.

Grapefruit orange juice, hmmm. Check out the link below for instructions!

I love everything that comes with spring. Especially fashion! I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one whose fashion sense goes into hibernation during the cold winter weather.

These wallpaper patterned rollers by The Painted House are wonderful. I can't even describe how excited they make me feel about painting my place!

patterned paint rollers 6 Easily Recreating The Look of a Classic Wallpaper: Patterned Paint Rollers

They are only $25 each, plus the cost of paint! I very eco friendly alternative to wallpaper - and very cheap alternative too. I think painting one wall of a room with the rollers is a great idea - I'm definatly picking up one, or three, or them. The Painted House's website shows all sorts of ideas to use them with. Covering coffee tables, bunting, even cards and framed prints.

Easy homemade Alfredo Sauce

This makes about enough for one person, maybe two depending on how saucy you like your paste!
I made this with chicken and penne noodles! It's one of my favourite dishes.

Get all the sauce ingredients, and mix! Set aside for when the chickens cooked.

First, boil the noodles! - don't forget about them once you start cooking the chicken or tofu. I boil the water, add the noodles and put on medium low covered. Then I just continually try the noodles until their done.

Cook the chicken! I precut mine into two bit pieces and cook them on the stove to on medium until their no longer pink in the middle.

And then I turn up the heat and cover for five to ten minutes!

Add the sauce to the chicken until it's heated up, and add to the noodles!

Okay, so I put them straight into tupperware because this is my dinner for work. Who says tupperware isn't photograph friendly?

At first, today's weather wasn't too bad. A little rainier then I'd like, but overall it wasn't too crappy.
Rainy day in Canada

And then, it got crappy.
Rainy day in Canada
Really crappy, like Canadian crappy, but I guess this is Canada in March so I can't really complain.

"Welcome to Canada! Unless you enjoy snow sports, you probably shouldn't come here from October to May."  Don't worry, I am fully aware I am a bad Canadian.

I've been feeling a bit off lately

I've been feeling out of control lately,  because I find myself wondering where the time has gone. I regularly find myself at the end of each day wondering if i was actually productive; could i have done more school work today? Could i have cleaned more? Could i have spent more time working on my business? Everyday.
Full Moon Clock
                                                                     via Cybermoon

I have so much going on at once; I'm a full time student, I work 15-30 hours a week and then on top of that I run a business. Finding time to sit down and relax, read a book, maybe watch a documentary, without feeling guilty about not doing something 'productive' just doesn't happen.

Not much I can do about that, besides maybe drop everything and move to a vegan commune, and that this point that doesn't sound too bad!

I'm still trying to figure everything out, I think I just need to find time for myself, even if it's just to take a bath and read a book. A bubble bath of course.
